Summary:
Yao Wan Niang (FL) was learning how to count in her mother’s room. A servant rushed in to tell Shen Shi that Yao Yi Wen going to divorce Shen Shi. Shen Shi complained that the Yao family for being ungrateful. It was the Shen family who supported Yao Yi Wen financially when he needed to take imperial examination and his political career. Yao Yi Wen looks down on his wife who came from a merchant family.
Shen Shi went back to her hometown in Yang Zhou after the divorce, but she left her trusted servant, Tong Ma Ma to look after FL. Yao Yi Wen remarried and his new wife, Zhang Shi bullied FL. Zhang Shi accused FL of harming the baby in her stomach and premature labour. Yao Yi Wen sent FL to Tai Xing to live with his parents and sibling. Old Master and Madam Yao dislike FL because of her mother’s background. They let one of their daughter in laws, Shou Shi to take care of FL. Shou Shi bullied FL. FL fell into a pond and drowned.
When FL woke up again, a new soul from the modern world took over FL’s body but retained the predecessor’s memories. Everyone got a shock when they saw FL. They thought FL was about to die. FL schemed to meet her 4th Shen Auntie and showed her how she got bullied by Shou Shi and her daughter, Yao Wan Ru. When FL found out that Madam Li asked 4th Shen Auntie for a doctor referral, FL schemed to meet Madam Li. FL was a psychologist in the modern world. FL treated Madam Li. Everyone disbelieved what they heard. Madam Li could see that FL was not treated well in the Yao family.
Li Zi Nian and his wife went to Yunnan as punishment. Madam Li went through a horrific experience and ever since Li Zi Nian returned to his post in the capital city, Madam Li has psychology problem. Madam Li felt better after her first consultation with FL. FL made Old Madam Yao to allow her to go to Madam Li’s house every day to treat Madam Li.
Li Zi Nian’s colleague, Xie Yan Ji disbelieved that a 12-year-old girl could treat Madam Li. Xie Yan Ji brought Dr Qin Wu from the capital city to treat Madam Li. But Dr Qin Wu could not find anything wrong with Madam Li. There was another man named Cui Yi Ting present to witness everything that happened.
Cui Yi Ting dislikes the Yao family and the Shen family. He saved FL from drowning and disbelieves that someone as weak as FL could change so much overnight. Cui Yi Ting sent 3 boxes of biscuits to Shen family as repayment of gratitude. 4th Shen Master got so upset and felt humiliated because Cui Yi Ting’s servant said the biscuit was to repay for the biscuit he ate when the Shen family saved him when he was a kid. When FL got to know about that, she taught her uncle to retaliate back. The three boxes of cookies sent back to Cui Yi Ting to say that gratitude interest not paid.
FL asked Doctor Qin Wu to treat 2nd Old Madam Yao. The second branch of the Yao family went through a tragedy and left with only 2nd Old Madam Yao and Yao Yi Zhou. The second branch of the Yao family is the clan leader and the 3rd Old Master Yao wanted to snatch the power over. So, when they heard 2nd Madam Yao is very sick, they started to plan. FL used tricks to motivate 2nd Madam Yao to recover to protect Yao Yi Zhou. FL remembered 2nd Madam Yao treated her mother and her kindly in the past and she wanted to repay her gratitude to help them.
2nd Old Madam Yao recovered and became FL’s supporter. 2nd Old Madam criticises 3rd Old Master Yao for being a hypocrite and his decision was questionable. 3rd Old Master Yao’s reputation became prominent after his third son (FL’s father) went into public service. 3rd Old Master Yao made lot of mistakes and as a result, few of the clan girls forced to become nun. 2nd Old Madam Yao brought FL with her to the family temple to bring the girls back to their family.
FL met Pei Ming Zhao who is Yong An Hou Ye (a Marquis). Pei Ming Zhao was on a mission to search for the missing Zhong Yi Hou Shi Zi, Zhao Qi. FL helped Pei Ming Zhao to capture the kidnappers and gave suggestion how to make the kidnappers break their silence. Zhao Qi got traumatized and did not eat or drink after he got rescued. Pei Ming Zhao went to FL for help. FL gave suggestion how to help Zhao Qi.
Cui Yi Ting (ML) was on a special assignment from the Emperor to investigate the corruption on the rice supply. Everyone thought it was Li Zi Nian who is the Head of the Investigation when he came to Tong Xing. Yao Yi Chun (FL’s 6th Uncle) got arrested for questioning. Shou Shi asked her brother to help. Shou Shi suggested to her brother to speak with 3rd Old Master Yao to engage FL to her retarded nephew. 3rd Old Master Yao wanted to punish FL and the Shen family and did not object when young Master Shou spread news about his upcoming engagement of FL.
3rd Old Master Yao wanted FL to sever her relationship with the Shen otherwise, he will send her away to stay in the family temple. FL refused to give in. 2nd Old Madam Yao and Yao Yi Zhou scolded 3rd Old Master Yao for his ruthlessness to destroy his own granddaughter. 2nd Old Madam took FL away to stay with her.
FL proposed a partnership with ML to help him to capture the people involved in the corruption and in return she wanted ML to escort her back to the capital city. ML agreed. FL set a trap for Shou Shi to sell the hidden rice supply to her. The hidden rice was evidence to the corruption case.
FL went to Yang Zhou to visit her mother and grandmother. Shen Shi refused to see her daughter. FL kneel in the rain to force Shen Shi to see her at last. FL told Shen Shi what happened and promised to bring Shen Shi to the capital city to stay with her. FL also found out that her cousin brother is her biological brother. Shen Shi found out she was pregnant after the divorce. Instead of letting another woman to bully her son, she gave her son to Shen Jing Yuan to raise.
ML search the Yao residence during his investigation and found paper talismans with his date of birth and FL’s date of birth. This served as proof that there is someone in the Yao family trying to curse ML and FL. ML publicize his findings to tarnish 3rd Old Master Yao’s reputation. Yao Yi Zhou as the clan Leader condemn 3d Old Master Yao in front of the clan elders and took over the custody of FL.
3rd Old Master Yao decided to go to the capital city to hide his face. 3rd Old Master Yao brought his beloved concubine, Jiang Yi Niang with him. 3rd Old Madam Yao got reprimanded because of the incident about the paper talisman. 3rd Old Master Yao did not know that FL is also going to the capital city with ML.
FL and ML use the waterways. On the way, they got ambushed but came out safe. ML managed to capture the mastermind. When they reached Tong Zhou, they bumped into 3rd Old Master Yao. 3rd Old Master Yao’s horse carriage broke down and borrowed a few horse carriages from FL without knowing that the carriages belong to FL.
Yao Yi Wen received news about his father and FL. Yao Yi Wen believed his father’s words . Yao Yi Wen instructed his to stop FL coming to the city and to send FL straight to live at the family temple. Yao Yi Wen went to welcome 3rd Old Master Yao with a few of his colleagues. Yao Yi Wen got a shock when he saw FL and Yao Yi Zhao. 3rd Old Master Yao also got a shock when he saw FL. Yao Yi Zhao criticised Yao Yi Wen as a bad father and took FL away with him. Yao Yi Wen felt embarrassed that his colleagues saw what happened in his family.
Yao Yi Wen got criticized after he bribed to see his brother, Yao Yi Chun. Yao Yi Wen still confused and did not know the truth behind Yao Yi Chun’s arrest. Yao Yi Wen went to see Li Zi Nian hoping to get some news about the corruption case. Li Zi Nian criticised Yao Yi Wen how he treated FL and suggested that he asked FL instead. Yao Yi Wen went to see Yao Yi Zhao. Once again, Yao Yi Zhao scolded Yao Yi Wen. FL interrupted their conversation. Yao Yi Wen asked FL to go home with him. FL said she also wanted to go home and asked Yao Yi Wen whether her room was still the same as before. Yao Yi Wen felt embarrassed when FL asked whether he visited her courtyard once after she left. FL told Yao Yi Wen that she did not push Zhang Shi and how she got treated in Tong Xing. After Yao Yi Zhao heard FL’s experience, he felt for FL and told Yao Yi Wen that 2nd Old Madam Yao suggested to adopt FL as her granddaughter officially. Yao Yi Wen got a shock and left in disappointment.
When Yao Yi Wen got home, he received a visitor. Pei Ming Zhou came and said that he wanted to cancel their meeting after he found out that FL was not staying with Yao Yi Wen. Pei Min Zhou criticized Yao Yi Wen for not treating FL well and how his wife took credit for what FL did for the Zhong Yi Hou Shi Zi. Yao Yi Wen went to FL’s courtyard and saw a desolate courtyard and he also overheard two servants talking. Yao Yi Wen realised that everyone knows that FL will not return, and they all pretended to care about FL in front of him. Yao Yi Wen scolded Zhang Shi. Before the argument turns worse, Yao Yi Wen asked to go see 3rd Old Master Yao.
3rd Old Master Yao scolded Yao Yi Wen for making a big deal of the desolate courtyard. 3rd Old Master Yao told Yao Yi Wen what he found out and how the corruption case will get cancelled. Yao Yi wavered between what FL and his own father.
The corruption case affected Cui Shi Rong (ML’s Uncle). Cui Shi Rong sent someone to kill the witness in the jail but failed. ML told the public that the main witness got murdered to lure the spies out. 3rd Old Master Yao and Zhang Qi Cheng (Zhang Shi’s father) happy that the investigation could not be continued but they were wrong. ML set a trap to arrest his own uncle, Cui Shi Rong.
Madam Zhao has invited FL to treat Zhao Qi. The Zhang family spread rumor about Zhao Qi and FL. The Emperor sent a Eunuch to visit Zhao Qi to find out the status of his sickness. Zhao Qi recovered. An Yi Jun Zhu warned FL that she will receive invitation from the palace for a meeting.
Yao Yi Wen also heard about the upcoming meeting at the palace, went to persuade FL to go home with him. FL agreed but with conditions. Yao Yi Wen went home to tell Zhang Shi. Zhang Shi got extremely upset when she heard that FL wanted to stay in the courtyard that she prepared for Huan Ge. Zhang Shi has no choice but to agree at last. FL also forced Zhang Shi to prepare dresses and hair ornaments for her.
FL came home on the day the palace Mo Mo came to teach her the palace etiquette. Zhang Shi planned to talk about FL being disrespectful to the elders when she went to the palace with FL. FL managed to convince both the royal consort how she treated Zhao Qi and admitted that she is an un-filial because she provided proof to send Yao Yi Chun to jail. When the Empress heard what FL said, she sent presents to FL. The Empress gesture means what FL did was right. After the Emperor heard what FL said, he instructed ML to continue with the investigation and refused to hear any criticism about ML from his ministers
FL suspected Huan Ge is not her father’s biological son. Zhang Shi started another scheme to hurt FL. Zhang Qi Cheng sent people to kidnap FL to lure ML out to kill him. FL managed to escape. ML took FL to his Auntie, Cui Yin Rong’s house. FL and ML set a trap for Zhang Shi and took the opportunity to get rid of her trusted servants. The investigation continued and Shou Shi got implicated. Shou Shi claimed that she is innocent and pour out everything that she did for Zhang Shi. Yao Yi Wen got a shock when he found out that he was wrong about Shen Shi. Shen Shi did not harm his concubine. Yao Yi Wen also disappointed to find out that Zhang Shi treated FL cruelly.
FL also made her father realized that Zhang Shi lied about her health condition and prevented herself from getting pregnant. Yao Yi Wen saw Kun Ge and envied Shen Jing Yuan for having a smart kid.
Shen Shi came to the capital city at last. FL suspected someone was trying to harm Shen Jing Yuan and asked ML for help. FL and ML managed to uncover another evil scheme of Zhang Qi Cheng (Zhang Shi’s father) and saved the General Chen Wei Shi and his son-in-law, Li Cheng Mao.
FL helped Pei Ming Hui to get away from an arranged marriage. The Pei family felt indebted to FL. Old Madam Pei noticed that Pei Ming Zhao has feelings for FL.
ML has a problem recognizing people’s face. He recognized people that he met from their clothing, physique, voice and gesture. ML went through a rebirth similar to FL. In his past live, he fell in love with a girl who got disfigured from a burnt trying to save her brother. The girl said her surname is Jiang and she went to Northwest to look for her relatives. ML found all the similarity in FL even though their name is not the same. When ML relive again, he wanted to make changes. After ML realized his feelings towards FL, he did not wait to confess his love to FL. FL got a shock and did not accept ML straightaway.
FL treated a girl from the He family who came from Yang Zhou. FL met Madam Wang at the He family and again in the palace. Madam Wang who is related to the Empress, instigated the Empress and Royal Concubine for an imperial edict to match FL with her son. FL acted very fast and pretended to faint. Cui Yin Rong purposely announced that her nephew already planned to propose to FL unlike the Wang family who has ulterior motive. ML went to the Emperor to ask him to bestow FL to him before he goes on a dangerous mission to Fu Jian.
ML went to Fu Jian ahead of schedule. Zhang Qi Cheng instructed people to assassinate ML. FL found out her cousin’s fiancé is the son to a pirate leader, Wang Lu Jiang. FL suspected someone might use it as an excuse to cause trouble to the Yao. FL disguised her trip back to Tong Xing to smuggle Wang Ju Sheng to Fujian. In Fujian, FL pretended as Wang Ju Sheng’s fiancée to meet with his parents. FL uncover the betrayal of Wang Zu Cheng (Wang Lu Jiang’s nephew) and convinced Wang Lu Jiang to surrender to the government. ML’s mission to Fujian is to get Wang Lu Jiang to surrender to the government and to get rid of Deng Si Chang. ML killed Deng Si Chang as he remembered in his past life, this person was evil.
FL and ML reunited in Fujian. ML became more daring when he met with FL. Both returned to the capital city and very soon they got married. On their wedding night, a woman came with a child to the Cui family to cause trouble. The woman claimed that her husband who is bed-ridden is Cui Si Tu’s bastard son. Cui Si Tu did not deny it. Madam Cui’s heart broke. FL suspected the woman lying. FL found out that the woman linked to the Minister Lu who was hiding from the government. The Emperor cheated the throne from his brother. Minsiter Lu got proof and went on hiding after the emperor killed his family. Minister Lu and Cui Si Tu were good friends and Minister Lu went to Cui Si Tu for help. Cui Si Tu asked his brother, Cui Shi Rong to help Minister Lu. Cui Si Rong instigated his wife, Duan Shi to bring this up to threaten Cui Si Tu. Duan Shi’s plan did not go as planned. FL warned Duan Shi that if this is known to the public, the entire Cui family will face death sentence.
Yao Yi Wen wanted to divorce Zhang Shi and remarry Shen Shi. Shen Shi rejected Yao Yi Wen and married Professor Yang Jing. Zhang Shi staged a kidnapping of Huan Ge to separate Huan Ge from Yao Yi Wen but did not know that her father Zhang Qi Cheng passed Huan Ge to Jiang Shi, another concubine of Duan Wang. Jiang Shi was working with Qing Wang (Emperor’s Uncle) to rescue Duan Wang to make him an Emperor. Yao Yi Wen found out a lot of people lied to him, including his beloved teacher and brother. His brother, Yao Yi Zhi used Jia Ning Princes, his father and mother. FL and ML set a trap to capture Yao Yi Zhi, Duan Wang and Qing Wang.
FL became pregnant but suspected she might face complication during delivery because of high blood pressure. During labour, FL saw flashes of her past life and how she met ML. In FL’s past life, ML asked FL to wait for him before he went to war. FL got killed. FL told ML that she finally waited for his return. ML happy when he heard that because FL remembered the past.
