Summary:
FL (Wang Qing Jun) suddenly received an imperial edict to enter the palace to get selected as a royal concubine. FL met 9 other girls who were also picked for the same reason. FL found out that they got selected because of their birthday. Emperor Tang Ruo Long He has been very sick and based on the Qing Chen Zi Taoist’s advice, he will recover if he marries a girl born on the Qi Qiao Nu Day.
FL suspected something very wrong. FL bumped into Li Song Bai, a family friend working as a doctor in the palace. FL asked her Pu Tao to find out the reason. Pu Tao came back with a message. Li Song Bai said the emperor was very sick and advised her to get out of the palace. But it was too late to escape. FL faked sick and met with Li Song Bai again. Li Song Bai slipped a message to FL. After FL read the message, she almost fainted. Li Song Bai said the only to save herself, she must successfully serve the emperor otherwise she will die. Li Song Bai gave FL the aphrodisiac pill to help her. FL was the last person presented to the emperor. On the way in, FL saw two girls being carried out heavily injured and heard that they are sent to the Taoist to make into pills.
A man called Chen Wen An came asking to meet with the Emperor. Chen Wen An is the nephew of the Empress and Princess Qian Jin’s fiancé. The Emperor irritated with Chen Wen An’s visit but that did not stop him from asking the last girl brought to his room. The Emperor asked Chen Wen An to wait behind a screen in his room. Chen Wen An kneeled behind a screen and can see the shadow of people moving on the bed.
FL ate half of the pill before she went into the room. Before the Emperor could complete the consummation, the Emperor fainted. FL got panicked. Chen Wen An thought FL sent by Shu Consort, hence he came to stop the Emperor. When Chen Wen An heard FL called out for the Emperor, he suspected something has gone wrong and went to check. When Chen Wen An was about to call for the guard, FL threw the other half of the pill into Chen Wen An’s mouth. FL told Chen Wen An to cooperate with her. Chen Wen Ann slept with FL instead. An hour later, Chen Wen An went back to kneel behind the screen.
The Emperor woke up and thought that he had consummated his marriage with FL when the Eunuch Ceng informed him of the blood stains on the bedsheet. FL got promoted 3rd grade Gui Ren.
Chen Wen An went to see FL and propose to get her to cooperate with the Empress to get the Emperor to write an imperial edict to pass the throne to the 3rd prince. The first two princes were born by the previous Empress.
First prince (Tang Tian Zhi) also arranged to meet with FL in secret. TTZ also asked FL to cooperate with him and FL agreed. Their meeting got found out by Chen Wen An.
During the Mid Autumn Festival, the Emperor asked for a family gathering. The 3rd prince (Tang Tian You) dare 4th Prince (Tang Tian Ning) to put the sour powder into the 1st and 2nd prince’s cup. When Tang Tian Ning refused, Tang Tian You threatened him. Tang Tian Ning tried the powder and since it was harmless, he agreed. The powder got swapped by Tang Tian You’s maid before it passed back to Tang Tian Ning. Shu Consort mistakenly took Tang Tian Zhi’s cup. When Tang Tian Ning saw that, he exchanged his cup with Shu Consort. Suddenly everything went chaotic. 3 princes got poisoned, Shu consort got panicked, hit her head and died. Tang Tian Zhi accused of killing his brothers. FL quickly went to stand behind the Emperor. The Emperor passed a seal to her to stop the soldiers from killing Tang Tian Zhi. FL did as told and then used the seal to leave the palace with her maid, MoMo and her friend (Ye Su Su) who served under Shu Consort.
They got stopped halfway by Chen Wen An. FL begged Chen Wen An to let her go and said she was pregnant. Chen Wen An advised FL to go back to the palace. Chen Wen An said he will protect FL and her baby. Chen Wen An told the Empress to keep FL alive since she was pregnant. Chen Wen An suggested to the Empress to help FL’s son to ascend throne instead of passing it to Tang Tian Zhi since Tang Tian You already died. Empress Chen agreed.
FL gave birth to a pair of twin sons after a difficult labour. FL lost part of her memories. FL has forgotten that Chen Wen An was the man she slept with and the baby’s father. Empress Chen got very sick and passed away shortly. The Empress named the babies Tang Tian Xi and Tang Tian Yue. The throne passed to Tang Tian Xi and Tang Tian Yue was given the title of An Yang Wang.
Ye Su Su advised FL to get support from Szeto General instead of being controlled by Chen Wen An and Princess Qian Qing.
Princess Qian Qing tried to get rid of FL to take custody of her newborn brothers. But her plan got backfired by FL and Chen Wen An. During this time, ML found out that his biological mother was Li Gui Ren, the current Li Tai Fei’s sister. Li Tai Fei told ML that when Li Gui Ren left the palace, she was pregnant but she has no idea who was the father. Li Gui Ren passed away during childbirth and the baby got adopted by Madam Chen.
During a welcome party for the visitors from Fan Guo, Duo Ge Princess casually mentioned that the two princes look like Chen Wen An. Rumour started to fly. Princess Qian Qing, Chen Wen An and FL discussed and weave a story to say that Chen Wen An was actually the Emperor’s son.
Tang Tian Zhi poisoned the two young princes. In order to get the young princes, Tang Tian Zhi wanted FL to clear his name. Princess Qian Qing interrupted the meeting between FL and Tang Tian Zhi. Princess Qian Qing wanted to get rid of both of them. FL killed Princess Qian Qing and Tang Tian Zhi name’s got cleared at last.
FL had a dream and worried that ML could be a threat to her son hence she enticed General Mu Da from Fan Guo to kill ML. FL accidentally killed General Mu Da during the fight between Mu Da and ML. ML got very angry with FL knowing her true intention. FL regretted her action. ML’s anger only went away one year later after FL sews a handkerchief for him.
Da Tang Guo and Fan Guo went into a war. General Chen Ping wanted to get his daughter to marry ML before he agrees to go to battle. FL almost agreed until ML scolded her for selling him out. General Chen Ping changed his mind after ML volunteer to lead the troupe.
ML became very busy preparing the military supplies for the battle. When one of the officials got killed by the Fan Guo spy and route of the supplies got compromised, ML volunteered to deliver the food supplies to the battlefield. FL worried that once ML left, Tang Tian Zhi may revolt, hence ML got Tang Tian Zhi to go as well.
Tang Tian Zhi thought ML wanted to get rid of him hence he looks for ways not to go. Tang Tian Zhi got sick during the trip and stayed back to recuperate. Prince Cheng Feng came to the capital. FL got panicked again as she thought Prince Cheng Feng was going to revolt but Prince Cheng Feng did not do anything.
ML returned a few months later. ML told FL that Prince Cheng Feng was actually his biological father and not Emperor Tang Ruo Long.
Princess Xun Xiang who married the Fan Guo Emperor 20 years ago, returned to Da Tang Guo with her daughter, Princess Duo Ge. Princess Duo Ge likes ML and tried to use the aphrodisiac drug to get ML to sleep with her. When FL heard about Princess Duo Ge’s plan, she got jealous. FL asked Dr Li Song Bai to give her a massage. ML got jealous and scolded FL. ML said he will bring FL to see how a proper massage is done.
ML took FL an empty palace and they saw Princess Xun Xiang dalliance with a palace guard. Princess Xun Xiang seems to do this often. When they were about to leave, they realised that they could not move. They got poisoned. Princess Xun Xiang told them she is going to burn down the palace and take over the custody of the princes. Princess Duo Ge begged her mother and said she likes ML. Princess Xun Xiang said she will give Princess Duo Ge an hour with ML. Princess Xun Xiang fed ML the aphrodisiac drug but she did not realise that ML has recovered his energy and subdued her. Princess Xun Xiang walked into the room and while FL tried to subdue her, she hit her head and all her past memories came back. Princess Xun Xiang and Princess Duo Ge got killed by ML and FL.
ML and FL secretly married. Prince Cheng Feng tells a web of lies to some of the top officials and hoping that they will spread the news around. It is said that Emperor Tang Ruo Long felt guilty towards ML’s birth and wanted to pass the throne to him. Emperor Tang Ruo Long asked the Taoist Master to pick a suitable wife for ML hence he suggested those born on Qi Qiao Nu Day to enter the palace. That day, the Taoist Master found FL most suited with ML. ML and FL married in front of Emperor Tang Ruo Long. The Eunuch made a mistake and announced the promotion of FL to Gui Ren. The Emperor thought of clearing the misunderstanding after he recovered but he passed away instead.
