Found three more books by Lin Jia Cheng on Ximalaya. Audiobook 1 is free for the first 32 episodes. I found a multiple voices audiobook on LRTS site but is chargeable.
I mentioned in 美人温雅 (Měi Rén Wēn Yā), I categorised Lin Jia Cheng’s book into 3 groups. This story falls under Group 2 – Smart FL just like the FL in 凤月无边 (Feng Yue Wu Bian) and Mei Ren Wen Ya.
Some part of the story is not perfect. FL is smart and yet she believed Wang Qi’s story that she is a Princess. There is no mention of Li Wu and Cui Zi Ying at the end.
Summary:
FL (Jiang Mi) and her brother, Jiang Wu are orphans. FL’s mother (Hua Rui) is a famous beauty but got blamed for the downfall of an empire. FL and her family moved to Wu city after the fall of the previous empire. FL’s life became very hard after her parents’ death. The sibling has trouble keeping their stomach full. FL has to go out to beg for food or borrow from neighbour. Jiang Wu got sick after he saved Chen Xin Er from drowning. At first, FL thought Chen Xin Er was sincere but she changed her mind after a few incidents related to Chen Xin Er. The medicine got accidentally spilled and cold water accidentally poured at Jiang Wu. FL became angry at Chen Xin Er. FL refused Chen Xin Er to get close to Jiang Wu. Everyday, Chen Xin Er will come to her house to cry and beg to see Jiang Wu. Chen Xin Er put on a show to get Master Ma to notice her. Chen Xin Er hope Master Ma will take her in as his concubine.
Li Gong watching FL from a horse carriage. Li Gong said 12 years ago in Shu’s capital city, a Witch predicted 7 things and out of the 7 things, 6 became reality. At that time, the Witch predicted FL’s future. The Witch got arrested and burnt by the authority after the Witch said the Shu empire will fall. A famous Jing Yuan Monk once kowtow to FL and walked away smiling. Ever since that meeting, Jing Yuan Monk went missing. FL became famous.
FL found a bun thrown away by a man. FL took the bun home and found Jiang Wu awake. Jiang Wu likes Chen Xin Er but when he got sick and unconscious, he could still heard what Chen Xin Er did and FL cried alone at night. Chen Xin Er heard from Master Ma, the nobleman from Shu Guo came to search for Madam Xu and her 13-year-old daughter. Chen Xin Er thought FL and Jiang Wu was in trouble. When Jiang Wu chased her away, Chen Xin Er got angry and she spread rumour about FL and Jiang Wu. FL’s neighbours rushed to FL’s house demanded FL and Jiang Wu to return their money to them.
Suddenly, a Eunuch and Master Wang came to read the imperial edict to appoint FL as Princess. FL and Jiang Wu followed Master Wang to Shu Capital City half month later. Jiang Wu got to know that Hua Rui is not his biological mother and Hua Rui is an ex-Shu Consort. FL got to know that her mother has many male admirers and Master Wang was one of them. Other noblemen surprise when they see FL. FL is not pretty like her mother.
On the way to Shu Guo, they stopped over night at Huang Village. That night, it rains heavily. The villager said it is common to see flooding but something weird happened. The villagers found the ground cracked between the hill and the village and it stopped the flood from getting into the village. Jiang Mi is very lucky and very smart.
Master Wang did not bring FL and Jiang Wu to the capital city but arranged for them to stay at Feng Xian town Master Wang said FL need schooling and he will come 2 years later to bring her back to the capital city.
One year later….
A young nobleman, named Cui Zi Xuan came to escort FL to Shu Du. Cui Zi Xuan is very handsome but arrogant. Cui Zi Xuan did not give any notice to FL to leave Feng Xian town. FL saw her servants packed up her stuff on the horse carriage. FL angry with Cui Zi Xuan because she did not get a chance to change or take a bath before the trip. FL ride her horse towards Cui Zi Xuan’s horse carriage to criticise Cui Zi Xuan. One of the noblemen, Yan San Gong Zi surprise that FL knew about their intention to meet Zheng Gong. FL used her intelligence to help Yan San Gong Zi to fulfil his wish to see Zheng Gong and at the same time. FL also made them return to Feng Xian town.
Yan San Gong Zi warned FL to keep her distance from Cui Zi Xuan if she did not want any trouble with all girls in Shu Du. Qing Yue Princess stopped FL and Cui Zi Xuan’s carriages at the city entrance. Qing Yue Princess got upset because of Cui Zi Xuan’s indifference towards her. FL did not want the attention, hence she quickly praises Qing Yue Princess’ beauty openly in public. Qing Yue Princess did not make trouble for FL when she a scrawny looking girl.
FL given a new house by the Emperor. FL suspected the Empress wanted to make her like her mother. The Empress arranged three old servants used to work for Madam Hua Rui to train FL. The old servants to teach beauty secret, art of seduction, and people management skill. FL asked the Head Servant to find three types of talented persons for her. The first is someone who is well-versed with the background of all the noblemen in Shu Du, a person from the lowest social level who mixed in the underworld and the third is people with skills in art and craft. The spy told the Empress and Cui Zi Xuan everything that FL did and said.
FL received her first social invitation from Master Wang. Master Wang asked Cui Zi Xuan to escort FL to the party. FL knew Cui Zi Xuan will cause more trouble for her. All the girls at the party looked down on FL. The girls tried to make fun of FL. One of the girls asked FL what she is her talent. FL said she is good in predicting future from a character. Zhou Xiang Er wrote a character and FL told Zhou Xiang Er careful when she get in the carriage. Zhou Xiang Er laughed at FL at first. But before the party ends, what FL predicted came true. Zhou Xiang Er slipped and broke her leg.
FL befriended Fang Yu Xiu. FL helped the Fang’s family from a major trouble. Li Ming Hui hated the Fang and wanted to take revenge. But FL spoiled Li Ming Hui’s plan. FL accused Li Yuan (Li Ming Hui’s father) of treason and dare him to swear in public. Li Yuan swore and suddenly a lightning strike. The Emperor asked his staff to investigate Li Yuan and found proof of his planned treason. Li Ming Hui and Li Yuan got arrested.
FL and Jiang Wu went out and bumped into a lady called Zheng Wen. Zheng Wen invited FL to join her hiking trip. FL wanted to decline but Kang Wang insisted that she joined. FL has no choice but to follow. Kang Wang is a prince borne by the Empress. Kang Wang wanted to make FL his concubine. According to rumour, Zheng Wen will become Kang Wang’s main wife. Zheng Wen wanted to please Kang Wang hence she tried helped Kang Wang to get FL.
FL noticed something wrong during their hiking. FL asked Jiang Wu to distance themselves from the rest. The group met with a group of bandits. FL and Jiang Wu managed to hide away. The bandit abducted everyone except for FL and Jiang Wu. FL can see from her hiding place, Cui Zi Xuan came to save them.
Fang Yu Xiu invited FL to her party. None of the high socialites were kind to FL. Zheng Wen overheard a conversation between Fang Yu Xiu and FL about her being dumb and stupid. Zheng Wen intended to give her inheritance to the Empress. FL said it was not worth do all that just to get a side consort position besides Kang Wang. Zheng Wen went to see her Auntie for advice. Zheng Wen’s Auntie is a nun. Her Auntie said the same. The Empress looked forward to receive Zheng Wen’s inheritance. Zheng Wen changed her mind and offered a secret formula instead. The Empress appointed Niu Zi Yu as Kang Wang’s main consort.
FL asked Jiang Wu to go back to Wu city to dig out an item buried by her mother in the old house. FL thought her mother hid her treasure there but her hope dashed. FL found a few formulas and three tutorials on war strategies, make up to disguise looks and a beauty and health book.
FL tried one of the beauty formulas. Zheng Wen noticed the special smell from medicine residue and asked for it. A few days later, Zheng Wen came to tell FL how the medicine residue could enhance someone’s natural fragrance. Zheng Wen proposed a business partnership with FL. Zheng Wen asked Yu Man to join because of her family background. FL agreed. But their business got affected when the ingredients became unavailable. ML knew about FL’s business and purposely stopped the ingredients from getting to them.
Master Wang invited FL to his daughter’s (Wang Yu) party. Madam Wang did not like FL because she thought her husband likes FL’s mother. FL likes Wang Hui and treated him like brother. FL did not get accepted by the socialites again. FL met Zhao Ke Ke at the party and thought she was a nice girl. FL got framed of dalliance with a young man named, Chen Wu. FL argued and debated with Zhao Ke Ke. FL asked Zhao Ke Ke to swear if she is still a virgin. After Zhao Ke Ke swear, a rock hit her head. Everyone who saw that, got a shock and truly believed that FL gifted with good luck.
ML asked FL whether she is aware why she became the bully’s target. FL did not understand too. ML said because FL has no background nor a strong supporter. ML hinted to FL to come to him for support. FL refused to listen.
ML offered to teach FL to play zither. One day, on the way to her first lesson, FL saw a group of men bullied Wang Hui and Li Cheng. After FL found out what happened, she offered help Wang Hui and Li Cheng. FL talented in her analytical skill. Wang Hui and Li Cheng gives FL a few reports they received and FL could predict what might happen after that.
The Empress wanted the fragrance formula but FL refused to give. The Empress asked Li Fu to teach FL a lesson from opposing her. FL accepted an invitation for a short trip. FL got abducted at night. Luck is on FL’s side. FL managed to escape and bumped into the Empress’s sister and Li Fu. The Empress’ sister tried to tarnish FL’s reputation. FL accused the Empress’ sister in the syndicate of kidnapping children. Once again, luck is on FL’s side. The Empress and her family’s reputation went down the drain.
FL did not know ML sent secret guard to protect her. The more ML sees FL, the more he likes to spend time with FL. ML often tease FL and bullied FL. ML purposely went window shopping with FL holding her hands. All the girls in town stare at FL with jealousy.
VIPs came from Nan Tang to Shu Guo. FL noticed one of the VIPs look like her brother. Jiang Wu went missing. Another VIP purposely caused trouble to FL. FL turned the situation around and accused the VIP instigated by the Empress to harm her. The Empress got demoted and thrown into the cold palace. The Emperor wanted to kill FL because what the Empress did brought humiliation to him. ML gave the Emperor a mine to exchange for FL’s life. FL listened to her servants to move to the temple to stay to keep a low profile.
One and a half years later.
FL saw a man who looks like to her brother and chased after him. FL got on the ship. FL’s ship got attack. FL got abducted. FL saw a man with a mask. The man with a mask made FL his slave. FL later found out the man with a mask is ML. FL saw her brother at Nan Ping Guo. Jiang Wu is now known as Li Wu and no longer the same person. Li Wu told FL, he hated her and her mother (Hua Rui). Li Wu claimed Hua Rui killed his mother. Li Wu’s father fell in love with Hua Rui and eloped with her. When Hua Rui could not have her own baby at that time, she instigated her husband to abduct the baby from Li Wu’s mother. Li Wu said he was not treated well by Hua Rui and looked down by everyone in Shu Guo including FL. FL saw Li Wu with Chen Xin Er. Li Wu is a Wang Ye and he is taking his revenge on Chen Xin Er for looking down on him in the past.
ML fell in love with FL and wants to marry her. ML arranged FL to return to Shu Guo and told her, he will come later to marry her. Shu Emperor is looking for a new Empress and consulted a monk. The monk said FL is the most suitable candidate as Empress. Shu Emperor asked Master Wang to make FL his adopted daughter and he will then pass an imperial edict to make FL his royal concubine. FL rejected the imperial edict and claimed she will bring calamity to the Emperor. True enough, suddenly a tile from the roof fell on the Emperor’s head. The monk admitted he made a mistake and overlooked to tell the Emperor, whenever FL is stress, her words become reality. Shu Emperor gave FL to Li Wu.
FL thought Li Wu is accepting her at last but she was wrong. Li Wu just want to make FL’s life hell. Li Wu told FL, he will make her, one of his concubines. ML negotiated with Li Wu. Li Wu asked ML to prove his love for FL if he stabs himself and save FL from the fire. ML did as told and got injured.
ML brought FL to Ming Zhou City. All of ML’s admirers cried and jealous of FL’s luck. FL heard everyone laughed and looked down at her because of her background and lack of dowry. FL met ML’s sister, Cui Zi Ying who looked down on her. FL feeling unsettled and went to see ML. FL saw ML was in the midst of training and how the servants pour buckets of blood on ML. FL hid herself but found out by ML. ML made love to FL. ML slept with FL a few times before their wedding.
FL asked her servant to arrange 128 wooden boxes and on her wedding day, she asked her servant to read out her dowry. FL’s dowry is her formulas which are equal to thousands of golds and precious stones. ML went away the next day after the wedding. FL found out ML killed Guo Wei, the Hou Zhou Emperor and two war generals of Nan Tang. It is a sign that ML is going to support Cai Rong to become the next Hou Zhou Emperor. ML used his wedding day to set a trap to get rid of these people.
Ms Wang from Tai Yuan told FL, she will marry ML, 3 months later. Ms Wang told FL, ML will marry 6 other girls at the same time. FL went into a shock. FL confirmed with what she heard with Cui Zi Ying.
FL waited for ML to come home. FL asked ML. ML did not deny it and just said he will protect FL. FL hides her sadness. FL could not foresee herself sharing husband with multiple women. FL wanted a true love like her parents. FL went to a tea house the next day. Someone delivered a present to FL and claimed that it was from her brother. The present is ingredient to disguise her look. FL knew the gift is not from Li Wu. FL planned to leave ML. FL disguised herself as a young man and left Ming Zhou city a few days later. FL hitch hike a ride with a merchant.
FL met young man called Shao Xiao Zi who is going to look for his brother in the Su Zhou City. FL cooked for merchant and his staff in exchange for her own food. At night, the Cui guards came looking for FL. But the Cui Guards said they are looking for a thief who stole FL’s dowry. FL hides herself from the guard. After the Cui Guards left, FL went to sleep in the carriage. Not too long later, another group of Cui Guards came. This time, the search party led by ML. Shao Xiao Zi convinced the Merchant not to disturb FL.
FL and Shao Xiao Zi left the merchant when they got to Su Zhou City. FL went to search for a place for them to stay. On the way, FL bumped into another man and that man fell down. FL noticed the man is heavily injured. FL used her bangles to exchange for a place and food for her and the man. FL went back to find Shao Xiao Zi but got to know that he found his brother. FL nursed the injured man. The man introduced himself as Zhao Kuang Yin. Zhao Kuang Yin felt indebted to FL. When Zhao Kuang Yin’s brothers and staff came to look for him, they took FL along with them.
Miss Zheng Jun got a tip that the Zhao Brothers are in Su Zhou city and they came from Hou Zhou Guo to meet with ML. Miss Zheng Jun invited the Zhao Brothers to her ship to stay. Miss Zheng Jun thought she is helping ML. But Zheng Jun’s arrogant attitude offended the Zhao Brothers. Zhao Kuang Yin gave FL a job of managing his admin matters. Zhao Kuang Yin wrote a letter to ML and asked FL to send using the pigeon. When FL saw the letter, she wrote another sentence and send it out. Zhao Kuang Yin found out FL disguised her looks, suggested FL to change her look slightly. FL found better ingredient in Su Zhou and decided to change her look and claimed that her new look was her original look.
Old Madam Cui asked ML to forget FL and pick one of the 6 selected concubines as main wife. Old Madam Cui suggested Miss Zhen Jun. ML able to read between the lines from Zhao Kuang Yin’s letter what Miss Zheng Jun had done. ML shown the letter to Old Madam Cui. Old Madam Cui regretted her first suggestion.
ML went to Su Zhou City to meet the Zhao Brothers. On the way, ML instructed his staff to go find FL. ML already knows FL used make-up to disguise as a young man to leave Ming Zhou City. FL did not dare to show herself in front of ML. ML told Miss Zheng Jun that she had jeopardized his plan hence she is no longer fit to become his concubine.
ML received confirmation from Emperor Chai Rong to accept the Cui’s clan. The Cui will move from Ming Zhou City to Bian Liang City. Emperor Chai Rong sent the Zhao brothers to escort and to protect the Cui Clan. Zhao Kuang Yin assigned FL to arrange the books given to them by Wu Yue Guo Zhu. FL spend her day either reading or learn how to ride a horse. While the Zhao brothers discussed the possible attacks in their journey, FL offered her insight based on the books she read. FL helped them to avoid a major calamity. FL became an important member of the team and got her own tent and staff.
Miss Lu Xuan asked to meet FL to get advice how to impress ML. FL gave her advice but Lu Xuan did not understand. FL gave up and simply said a few common advice and left. On the way, FL passed by ML’s tent. FL stopped when she heard the music played by ML. When FL about to walk away, a voice stopped FL. ML saw FL and claimed FL’s eyes look like an old friend.
ML suspected FL is Jiang Mi and arranged opportunities to get close to FL. FL told everyone she is not interested in man to stop ML from disturbing her. Zhao Kuang Yin arranged FL to become ML’s assistant. ML ignored everyone’s reaction and continued to treat FL like his lover in public. Old Madam Cui decided to keep one eye close as long as ML is happy. ML has not been happy ever since FL left him. ML tested FL a few times but he dared not go further. Cui Zi Ying asked A Wu (ML’s Assistant) why his brother reacted differently with FL. A Wu told Cui Zi Ying the truth. Once again FL helped the team to avoid another calamity.
Old Madam Cui invited FL to dinner. During dinner, one of ML’s concubines criticized FL. FL criticized back.
FL discovered another possible attack and once again, FL saved everyone. That night, FL became so tired that she slept immediately once her head touches the pillow. When FL woke up, she saw a drunk ML in her room. FL noticed she was not wearing her own clothes. ML already found out her identity. ML took out a box and shown FL all the things he accumulated to punish FL. FL became scared. But they got interrupted with the arrival of Cui Zi Yue and his concubines. When ML got back to the tent, FL went missing.
Chen Xi cut a hole on the tent and helped FL escaped. FL asked Chen Xi to leave first and she changed her make-up. ML caught Chen Xi and forced him to tell FL’s whereabouts. FL disguised herself as a soldier and sneaked into the tent. ML found FL and brought her back to his tent. ML forced FL to wash her make-up. That night, ML made love to FL many times. FL told ML, she did not like him to have concubines but ML did not agree. ML tried to pacify FL, claiming that he will only love her and their children will become the heir to the Cui Clan. FL knows she will leave again when she gets a chance.
A man named Wang Qi came to see FL and claimed that FL is a princess from the previous dynasty. Wang Qi claimed that he is the adopted son of the Wang Yan and it was him who sent the make-up to FL in Ming Zhou city.
ML went away for business. Cui Zi Ying rushed to tell FL that her grandmother and ML’s concubines knows about her identity as Jiang Mi. The Cui Elders asked FL to come for questioning. FL confessed she is Jiang Mi and washed away her make up in front of them. The Cui Elders told FL, they have the right to downgrade FL from main wife to concubine for her talent but she brought shame to the family. FL asked the Elders to strike her name off as she did not want to become ML’s concubine. The Cui Elders got a shock and did not know foresee FL to reject their offer. FL got locked-up to wait for ML’s return to settle the matter. Wang Qi sent his staff to save FL.
Old Madam Cui got a shock when she heard FL went missing. The Cui received two bad news that night. The first is one of their members got killed and the collapse of the gold mine. The lost of the gold mine jeopardized the Cui’s financial status. ML became very different after he heard how his family treated FL and FL’s response of wanting a divorce. ML took away all the powers from the Cui Elders and Cui Zi Yue sent to Hou Zhou Guo to enter the harem as punishment. Cui Zi Yue was the culprit who spread news to ML’s concubines about FL. The concubines used their family to pressure the Cui Elders to divorce FL. ML asked his staff to announce to the public about his separation from FL.
Wang Qi suggested FL to take over her friend’s character to disguise herself. FL agreed. FL became Yang Shi, a widow and a merchant.
FL and ML met again in a party. The youngest princess of Hou Zhou Guo is one of ML’s admirers. After the Princess heard that ML became single again, she started to pursue him. Emperor Chai Rong came to the party. ML told Emperor Chai Rong he has no intention to marry anyone in the next 2 years. ML suspected Yang Shi is Jiang Mi.
ML met FL again in a teahouse and overheard her conversation with her staff how to strategize their business in Bei Han.
The Crown Prince, Chai Zhong Xu wanted to make FL his lover. ML purposely spread rumours that FL is pregnant with his baby. FL got so mad and when ML came to see her, she asked his servant to put drug in the food and drink to make ML and his guard unconscious. FL asked her staff to tie ML up. FL hit and bite ML to release her frustration. ML asked two guards to secretly watch what FL said and did to him. The guard did not hear the first part of FL’s complaint and only heard the last few sentences. When ML woke up, he found bruises all over his body. The guard told ML what happened and what they heard. ML is certain that FL is Jiang Mi.
Li Wu proposed to marry FL. FL did not reject Li Wu but asked for time to consider. Li Wu scolded ML because Jiang Mi has gone missing. ML criticised Li Wu’s intention to propose to Yang Shi. Li Wu likes Jiang Mi and he could see Jiang Mi’s image in Yang Shi.
FL received an imperial edict to go to You Zhou. On the way, FL realised they fell into a trap set by Chai Zhong Xu. Chai Zhong Xu gave FL two choices. Either to marry him and passed on all her wealth to him or to die. FL retaliated and won the battle with Chai Zhong Xu’s soldiers. ML and Li Wu rushed to save FL. But what they saw made them changed their mind. They saw FL holding a sword fighting and is totally different from the Jiang Mi they know. Both left the scene.
FL thought she saw ML came and left. FL went to You Zhou to look for steel mine. FL went away for a year. Within one year, Chai Rong won two wars with Bei Han and part of the credit goes to FL. Chai Rong asked FL to return to Bian Liang city to receive her reward. FL saw ML from far. ML lost weight and seems different. ML has not been home for the past 6 months traveling in and out of the country.
FL accepted invitation from Wang Qi for dinner. FL saw Cui Zi Ying and the socialites at the restaurant. Someone tried to tarnish Cui Zi Ying’s reputation. A drunk man invaded the girls’ room and hugged Cui Zi Ying. FL directed her guard to kill the man and then she forced all the socialites to sign a declaration letter to control them from spreading what had happened. FL passed the declaration letters to ML. Cui Zi Ying felt indebted to FL for helping her but she did not understand why FL do that for her.
FL went to the palace but did not get to see the Emperor. The Empress asked to see FL instead. On the way towards the inner palace, FL bumped into a consort who tried to cause trouble for FL. FL also bumped into Old Madam Cui and Cui Zi Yue, who is now a consort too. Their meeting got interrupted when a Eunuch came to announce that the Empress Dowager wanted to punish Cui Zi Yue. Out of curiosity, FL went to the Empress Dowager’s palace to see. The Empress Dowager claimed that someone accused Cui Zi Yue as the mastermind behind the recent incident concerning Cui Zi Ying. Old Madam Cui and Cui Zi Ying denied the accusation. Suddenly, FL walked in and commented that it was arranged by Yu Consort. Everyone had a shock. FL explained her findings and got the support from the West Empress Dowager.
Old Madam Cui and Cui Zi Yue felt indebted to FL. ML met with FL and asked why she wanted to help is family. FL claimed she likes Cui Zi Ying and since she already offended Yu Consort, might as well blame it on Yu Consort. FL’s new house is next to ML’s house. One afternoon, FL went to a bookshop and offended a Master Scholar admired by Chai Zhong Xu. FL later found out ML wanted this Master Scholar to put in good words to Chai Zhong Xu for FL. ML wanted to do something to repay the good deeds FL did for his family. ML invited FL into his carriage. FL saw the books in the carriage and casually pick it up to read. During this time, ML watched FL intently. ML suspected FL is Jiang Mi.
Cui Zi Ying became closer to FL ever since FL saved her. Cui Zi Ying invited FL to a trip. Cui Zi Ying and FL had some alcohol and then Cui Zi Ying purposely mark FL’s face with ink. FL went to wash her face. It was a plot arranged by ML to make FL show her true face. Cui Zi Ying got a shock when she saw FL. ML took FL to his room and tied her up. After ML came out from his bath, he got a shock. FL had escaped. Someone has taken FL away.
ML wanted to go abduct FL, but he realised FL protected by highly skilled guard. Times has changed and no longer like before.
Cui Zi Ying invited FL to her house to meet Old Madam Cui. During this time, a General came to cause trouble. FL chased the General away. Emperor Chai Rong asked FL to enter the palace. Everyone expects the Emperor to punish FL, but FL managed to turn the situation around. FL presented her investigation reports to the Emperor and got complimented instead.
Old Madam Cui realised her so-called beliefs no longer works in the current chaotic world. The woman whom she looked down before has turned out to be a diamond in the rough. Old Madam Cui decided not to meddle in ML’s love relationship wit FL.
ML and FL met. ML wanted to get back with FL. FL still loves ML and she agreed. FL went back to become Jiang Mi.
Lu Man and Kang Wag came to Hou Zhou Guo wanting to form alliance with Chai Rong. Lu Man tried to win favour with FL. A beggar claimed as Cheng Wen came to see FL. Cheng Wen told FL what Lu Man did to her. After FL left Xu Zhou, Kang Wang changed his mind and went back to pursue Cheng Wen. The Lu Clan schemed to make Kang Wang marry Lu Man. Lu Man did not want another woman to share her husband’s love, Lu Man plotted to tarnish Cheng Wen’s reputation. Lu Man then instigated Kang Wang to give Cheng Wen to Li Mo from Nan Tang, who is much older than Cheng Wen. Li Mo is a well-known playboy and a wastrel. Lu Man thought Li Mo will reject Cheng Wen after knowing Cheng Wen is not a virgin, but she was wrong. Li Mo took Cheng Wen back to Nan Tang. Cheng Wen treated Li Mo sincerely because Li Mo did not look down on her. Cheng Wen and Li Mo fell in love with each other. Li Mo and Cheng Wen escaped to Hou Zhou Guo for a new life. Li Mo is a prince from the previous dynasty in Nan Tang. Li Mo brought with him the military map of the Nan Tang. Lu Man’s spy stole it from Li Mo. Li Mo got accused of being a spy by Chai Zhong Xu and got locked up. Cheng Wen got thrown out from the hotel and became a beggar. FL and ML helped Cheng Wen to reunited with Li Mo.
Chai Rong wanted to take over Nan Tang. War started. Li Wu changed his name to Li Jing Jing and became Crown Prince of Nan Tang. Hou Zhou Guo lost few battles because Nan Tang Guo’s expertise in their navy military. Nan Tang Emperor asked Li Wu to go negotiate a peace treaty with Chai Rong. Li Wu did not agree but did as told. Li Wu and Chai Rong did not reach an agreement. Li Wu felt it was too early for a negotiation and Chai Rong admired Li Wu’s personality even though they are on the opposite sides. Li Wu stopped by a town on the way back to Nan Tang Guo. Li Wu bumped into FL. FL wanted to call him brother but stopped herself. Li Wu has mixed feelings. He hated FL’s mother but yet FL is the only sister he looked after since young. As usual, Li Wu treated FL very coldly. Chai Rong planned an attack but almost got killed if not for ML. ML came in time to save Chai Rong and once again got into Chai Rong’s good book.
Emperor Nan Tang instigated by his Ministers and Eunuch to recall Li Wu back to the capital city. Li Wu became extremely unhappy. Li Wu has no choice but followed instruction.
FL found out Fan Yu Xiu married Shao General but not treated well in the Shao’s household. Shao General’s mother and niece cum concubine schemed to distance Shao General from Fan Yu Xiu. They arranged Fan Yu Xiu to stay in the village. FL told Shao General, Fan Yu Xiu is her good friend in Shu Zhou Guo and she wanted to see her. FL arranged a staff to help Fan Yu Xiu. Old Madam Shao and Yun Concubine schemed to get the bandit to get rid of Fan Yu Xiu but their plan got backfired. After Shao General found out, he killed Yun Concubine and sent his mother to live in the village instead.
The war with Nan Tang is over. Chai Rong won.
FL became popular among the younger male generations of the noble families. FL helped a few of them. At the end, they gave FL a ring to signify her place as the matriarch representing all the noble families.
Chai Rong wanted to take over Shu Guo. FL agreed to help. Zhao Kuang Yi pretended as soldier to protect FL. On the way back to Hou Zhou Guo, FL found out she was pregnant. Wang Qi came and asked to escort FL home. FL realised she made a mistake. Wang Qi shown his true colour. Wang Qi made use of her from the very start. FL escaped and found Zhao Kuang Yi. Once again, FL made another mistake. Zhao Kuang Yi and Wang Qi already worked together. Zhao Kuang Yi has feelings for FL. Wang Qi wanted to give FL to Zhao Kuang Yi.
Old Madam Cui and Old Madam Lu plotted to kill Chai Zhong Xu but accidentally killed Chai Rong. ML got extremely disappointed that all his efforts to save the clan and hope to make the clan prosperous dashed. ML found out FL got restrained by Wang Qi, sent his staff to help FL escape.
After FL escaped, she found out what happened to ML. FL rushed to save ML. Zhao Kuang Yin wanted to kill all the noble families to take revenge for Chai Rong. FL persuaded Zhao Kuang Yin to let go and to topple Chai Zhong Xu instead. Zhao Kuang Yin agreed and let all of them go.
Zhao Kuang Yin became Emperor at last. FL and ML has 2 sons and they live happily together.
